Elementary Religious Education (ERE) is a faith formation program for children in grade school. By educating children in their Catholic faith, we are providing a foundation for them to grow into disciples later in their life. In ERE, students meet weekly in grade-level classes where they are taught by a dedicated group of catechists. By investing your children's time into Elementary Religious Education, you are taking a step toward putting God first in your life and theirs and laying the groundwork for a lifetime of faith.
About ERE
Elementary Religious Education is the primary faith formation program for children of Our Lady of Grace parishioners in grades K-5. Classes meet weekly from September through early May on Sundays in Our Lady of Grace Catholic School (Door 4). Classes take place at two different times and two different languages. In addition to weekly classes, students also participate in events and explore various liturgical celebrations, including All Saints Day, Advent, Lent, and May Crowning.
After 9:00am Mass or before 11:30am Mass, students proceed to their classroom in Our Lady of Grace Catholic School. Here, they will be with other students in their grade level and two trained adult catechists. These catechists will use discussion, media, activities, prayer, games, and lessons to teach students about their Catholic faith. Our ERE classes utilize the Christ Our Life curriculum from Loyola Press.
There are more than 20 adult catechists and several youth who help keep the ERE program running. These amazing volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and careers, but what makes them great catechists is their willingness to share their faith with children. All catechists receive formation for their role and are Safe & Sacred trained.
